The Suzan Bennison Story
2012 Tour Trade 2 $5,000 Grand Prize Winner!
Suzan Bennison will be the first to tell you that Tom Burgess is more than just a friend who also enjoys fantasy golf contests. Over 10 years ago, Tom was playing in another fantasy contest when he noticed that a lady had a team in the top 10 of that contest and was beating him. That lady was Suzan Bennison, the recent winner of CDM Sports' Tour Trade 2 and recipient of a $5,000.00 cash grand prize.

Tom sent Suzy a message after that earlier fantasy contest, and she responded. They started talking about fantasy sports and other common interests, and they later met. They've been together ever since that initial meeting, and the two now run an e-commerce store together. They frequently share opinions about fantasy golf, and Tom and Suzy collaborated on Suzy's team to bring home a winner.

The Ballhawkers Tour Trade 2 team took the lead in the overall standings on May 21st; but, with the US Open as the last event, Suzy and Tom had to have a good week to hold on. Graeme McDowell, John Peterson, Jim Furyk, David Toms and Jason Dufner all came through for the Ballhawkers, and a 26th place finish for the week was good enough to hold on for the win.

US Open Champion, Webb Simpson, sat on the Ballhawker's bench. Fortunately, however, Simpson, who was on 70 of the top 100 overall teams, was on the bench for 63 of those teams during the Open. And, thankfully, Simpson was on the bench for the two teams directly behind in the standings. "On Saturday morning when the deadline for changes neared, Simpson wasn't doing anything special" Suzy explained, "And, he didn't fit under the salary cap without some other major changes".

Suzy and Tom have now each been playing fantasy sports for over 10 years, and they each also enjoy football and auto racing. The two of them won two overall championships in 2006, Last Man Standing and Majors Challenge; but, Suzy considers winning Tour Trade 2 to be a bigger achievement. When asked about his interest in fantasy golf, Tom, who plays golf on a regular basis, said that he and Suzy really enjoy watching professional golf tournaments together each week and that their love for golf is what drives them to play fantasy golf. While not wanting to divulge strategy, Tom did note that saving a buy or two until the end of a fantasy golf contest can really help your finish.

Suzy's league 10 in Tour Trade 2 was probably one of the toughest leagues ever in Tour Trade. Three of the top 6 finishers in Tour Trade 2 were in that league. So, winning the league was quite an accomplishment by itself. "Hopefully Tour Trade 3 won't be quite as hard," Tom said!
