SCORING

Overview

Using the Contest point-scoring method, points are accumulated each weekend for the player you pick based on the following statistical categories:

PITCHING POINTS
Pitcher Win 6 points
Quality Start 3 points*
Complete Game Shutout 2 bonus points**
No Hitter 2 bonus points***
Strike Out 1 point
1 Inning Pitched 1 point****

*Quality Start is a start in which a starting pitcher pitches at least 6 innings while giving up 3 or less earned runs.

**Complete Game Shutout is a start in which a starting pitcher pitches every inning of a game (including extra innings, if any) while giving up zero (0) runs. (A starting pitcher cannot earn bonus points for pitching a Complete Game Shutout without pitching the entire game and earning the win.) For example: Your pitcher pitches 9 innings with 7 strike outs and wins 1-0. You would receive 27 total points (6 points for a win, 3 points for a quality start, 2 bonus points for complete game shutout, 7 points for strike outs and 9 points for innings pitched).

*** A No Hitter is a start in which a starting pitcher pitches every inning of a game (including extra innings, if any) while giving up zero (0) hits. (A starting pitcher cannot earn bonus points for pitching a No Hitter without pitching the entire game.) For example: Your pitcher pitches 9 innings, gives up 0 hits but 1 unearned run with 7 strike outs and loses 1-0. You would receive 21 total points (0 points for win, 3 points for quality start, 2 bonus for the no hitter, 7 points for strike outs and 9 points for innings pitched).

****Fractional points are awarded for each partial inning pitched (1 out = 0.33 points)

Scoring System

Weekly point totals are accumulated based on your players' points each weekend. The points week begins with games played each Friday and ends with games played each Sunday through July 1, 2018.

The winner of the Survivor Bracket will be the entry or entries who survive each weekend during the Contest. If no entry survives through all 12 weekends of the Contest, the last surviving entry or entries will win the Survivor Bracket and the $500.00 cash grand prize. To determine winners in the Points Bracket, entries will be ranked from first to last based on the total points accumulated for each entry during all 12 weekends of the Contest. The entry with the most points accumulated for all 12 weekends finishes first and wins the first place cash prize in the Points Bracket. All other cash prizes in the Points Bracket will be awarded based on the points rankings.

If you do not submit your selection in any week, you will get zero points for that week and you will drop out of the Survivor Bracket. However, you can purchase a Call to the bullpen to stay in the Survivor Bracket. Call to the bullpen are only available for purchase during the week following the week in which your selected players failed to accumulate 15 points. No Call to the bullpen can be purchased after week 8 of the Contest.

If you do not submit your selections for any weekend, you will get zero points for that weekend and you will drop out of the Survivor Bracket. If you do not purchase a Call to the bullpen you will continue to compete in the Points Bracket through July 1, 2018. Selections do not carry over from weekend to weekend.

If, for any reason (including games being postponed due to inclement weather), a pitcher selected by you does not pitch during the weekend for which he is selected, you will get zero points for your pick. If the pitcher selected by you starts a game which is postponed for any reason after the game has commenced, the pitcher selected will NOT earn any points for strikeouts or innings pitched prior to the game being postponed unless the game is completed during the same weekend and declared an official game.
