Ben Roethlisberger QB PIT
Steelers owner Art Rooney is open to extending Ben Roethlisberger.

"His play this year makes you feel he does have a few years left. All that is great in terms of the contract. We'll address that at the right time. Bottom line is we're excited and we'll continue to work with him." After retirement rumors last offseason, Roethlisberger plans to play for at least three more years. The Steelers have Roethlisberger signed through 2019.

Matt Bryant plans to play 2-3 more years.
Bryant is entering his age-43 season but didn't show much of a drop off last year, making 34-of-39 field goals. An impending free agent, the Falcons are expected to extend Bryant this offseason.
Colts GM says Luck doesn't need more surgery 02-07-2018
Andrew Luck QB IND
Colts GM Chris Ballard said Andrew Luck (shoulder) doesn't need another surgery.

Stephen Holder on Twitter
"He doesn't need surgery," Ballard said after reports surfaced over concern on Luck's progress. "I've not gotten that from the two doctors. He's not throwing a football yet and is working on arm speed. He's not going to skip a step." Luck's shoulder injury looks to have no impact on Josh McDaniels' decision to back out of the Colts' head-coaching job. The Colts remain optimistic Luck will be ready for the start of the season.

Cassius Marsh DE SF
49ers re-signed DE Cassius Marsh to a two-year contract. Marsh was traded by the Seahawks to the Patriots at final cuts last summer before then getting cut in November and claimed off waivers by the Niners. He developed into a major part of the Niners' rotation the final month of the season and totaled three sacks in 2017. Marsh will play a rotational and special teams role in 2018. He was initially scheduled to hit free agency next month.

Russell Wilson QB SEA
The MLB's Texas Rangers traded Russell Wilson to the New York Yankees.
Wilson played his college baseball at NC State and was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the fourth round in 2010. In 2013, he was dealt to the Rangers and went to spring training in 2014 and 2015. He has always dreamed of playing for the Yankees, Wilson says, and plans to attend spring training with the Bronx Bombers this year. Wilson still has no plans to be a dual-sport athlete.

Dan Campbell TE NO
The Colts requested to interview Saints TEs coach/assistant head coach Dan Campbell for their head-coaching vacancy.

Mike Garafolo on Twitter
Campbell, 41, was the Dolphins' interim head coach in 2015 after the team fired Joe Philbin. Campbell is a riser in the coach ranks and joins Eagles OC Frank Reich in the Colts' new search.
Panthers' Samuel (ankle) has ligament damage 02-07-2018
Curtis Samuel WR CAR
Panthers second-year WR Curtis Samuel (ankle) needed surgery to repair both a broken bone and ligament damage following his Week 10 injury.

Jourdan Rodrigue on Twitter
Samuel caught 15 passes for a measly 115 yards and no touchdowns as a rookie. He was hurt far more often than he was healthy, as he also battled back and hamstring issues. Samuel was finally sent to I.R. in late November. He currently has no timetable for recovery and remains in a boot and rehab. The team is optimistic Samuel will be ready for training camp come July.
Colts want to interview Eagles OC Frank Reich 02-07-2018
Frank Reich QB DET
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the Colts are expected to put in an interview request for Eagles OC Frank Reich regarding their head-coaching vacancy.

Tom Pelissero on Twitter
When all is said and done, the Colts could actually benefit from Josh McDaniels backing out on them. McDaniels has proven to be a total failure outside of New England in stops with the Broncos and Rams, and it's anybody's guess if he's actually any good. Reich, 56, got his coaching start in Indy in 2008, spending four years there with Peyton Manning. He's never been a head coach, but is a rising star in the coaching ranks after his work in Philly the past two seasons.
Redskins likely to stand pat at running back 02-07-2018
Samaje Perine RB WAS
CSN Mid-Atlantic's Rich Tandler expects the Redskins to stand pat at running back this offseason.

CSN Mid-Atlantic
"I think they want to see [Samaje] Perine develop and there still is faith in Rob Kelley," writes Tandler. "Perhaps they will utilize Chris Thompson a little more on first and second down." Perine suffered an ankle injury in the Week 17 finale, but there's been nothing said on it to suggest it was serious. He averaged a miserable 3.4 YPC as a rookie and scored just one rushing TD, while Kelley was even worse at 3.1 YPC. Thompson absolutely deserves more touches but is recovering from a broken right leg/ankle. Thompson will be the best fantasy bet.

The New Orleans Advocate
The finger had apparently been locked at a "90-degree angle" during the season. Including the playoffs, Hill caught 22 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns. He's signed for $2 million for the 2018 season.
