The Jim Bartkowski Story
2013 Tour Trade 1 $7,500 Grand Prize Winner!
This year's winner of Tour Trade 1, Jim Bartkowski, thought his Barko1 team had a pretty good chance to win the cash grand prize in Tour Trade 1 going into the final week. He had been in first place for 5 consecutive weeks, and he had a nice lead entering that final week. He was actually more focused on his other team, Barko 2, which he hoped could move up from third in the standings to second. "The team right behind me did not have any buys left, and I had one on each team", Jim recalled, "so I had a really good idea who would be on his team. The question was who to buy for my teams."

Jim narrowed the last purchase decision to either Sergio Garcia or Henrik Stenson, and then determined that Garcia was "the obvious choice". He spent a few hours discussing the move with his partner, Mark Koerbitz, and it looked like the right move until Sergio played his last two holes. Jim chuckled about those last two holes and remarked: "I was ready to throw the television out of the window as I watched what Sergio did at the end. If he would have hit the second shot on the green, he still would have made over $700,000." Nevertheless, as it turned out, the $237,000 Garcia won in the tournament was enough for the Barko 2 team which won second place by about $50,000.

The retired Budweiser-Miller-Coca Cola distributor from International Falls, Minnesota has been playing Tour Trade since 2007. "I love the game", Jim says, "you learn a lot about the golfers that you don't get from watching them on TV." Jim also noted, "I'm already working on my Tour Trade 2 team. Hopefully, I can become the first winner of both Tour Trades!"

Jim's best finish before this year had been 22nd in 2010. When asked about the strategy he employed to make him a winner this time, he commented that "a lot of it is picking up the right players at the right time. I picked up Adam Scott and Graeme McDowell, and I had Billy Horschel from the beginning." Along with key contributors Tiger Woods, Matt Kuchar and Brandt Snedeker, Jim had all of the right people to win cash prizes totaling $11,700.00 in Tour Trade 1.

When asked if he had any special plans for his cash winnings, Jim said "I don't, but my wife will!" Jim enjoys playing golf, along with hunting and fishing, in one of the coldest places in the U.S. "And, there's a couple other people in International Falls who play Tour Trade, so it's fun to talk golf with them," Jim exclaimed.
